STATEMENT OF POLICY:
The following points are to clarify the draft policy of the WVRHEP. The following defines what is necessary to be a preceptor in the EWVRHEC.
- Preceptors are not paid employees of the consortium, but may be paid on a consulting basis, as independent contractors paid by other means.
- Preceptors are required to have an appointment with a West Virginia University System or state and private college system school.
- Preceptors must supervise students during rural rotations.
- Preceptors must provide appropriate evaluation of student activities, as required by WVRHEP and/or the student's school.
- Preceptors may participate in the interdisciplinary sessions with students.
- Preceptors may participate in student research projects.
- Preceptors may participate in and/or provide technical assistance for student community service projects.
- Preceptors may attend consortium board meetings.
- Field professors participate in and/or provide WVRHEP faculty development.
