Boone County is located in southwestern West Virginia, and borders Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Wyoming, and Raleigh Counties. Although rural in nature, the Madison-Danville area is only a 35 minute drive from the state's capital city of Charleston.
Madison, one of the four municipalities in the county, is the county seat. Madison was incorporated in 1906. The other municipalities are Danville, Whitesville, and Sylvester. All have a mayor/council of government.
If it's family fun you're after then try a day or two at Water Ways, a family oriented water park, located just off Corridor "G" at Julian.
Fisherman can reap the benefits of the bass, channel catfish and trout stocking programs in the county, and golf enthusiasts will find the Riverview Country Club ranks among the most immaculate in the state.
