RHEP Site Coordinator Meeting

WVSOM Alumni Center/Lewisburg

Present:   Shannon Bell, Amber Crist, Elizabeth Richmond, Parr Thacker, Lora Adkins, Judy Koehler, Christy Robinson, Dalena Riggs; and from the ORH, Hilda Heady, Kim Robinson, April Vestal and Derrick Day,

 

Absent:, Penny Asbury, Georgianna Tillis, Robert Blake,  Malinda Turner, Carla Campbell, Sonnie Strader,  Kathryn Greenlief,  Anna Reno and Chuck Conner.

 

Lora called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. 

 

The November minutes were approved by a fist or five, called by Lora.

 

Next Steps were reviewed from November by Judy.  They were:

 

1.                  Site Coordinators to send consortium fund balance to Margaret.(done)

 

2.                  Site Coordinators to send Derrick any positive student quotes or placements including their name, for Legislative lunch boxes.(Ongoing)

 

3.                  Send Hilda any suggestions you may have for a speaker at the Annual Awards Banquet.(Done)

 

4.                  Replace Steve Thomas positions with Carla Campbell on the committees and add Robert as the 2nd alternate to the Finance Committee.(Done)

 

5.                  Site Coordinators to report to Parr what and how you pay your preceptors (if you do) by Tuesday Feb. 1, 2004.(Ongoing)

 

6.                  Site Coordinators need to take Bio-Terrorism course 1 and 2 by the end of year.(Ongoing)

 

7.                  Site Coordinators to discuss with their boards the Governor-Elect question of what are the top five things his administration can do to help us meet our missions, and what we can do as a program to help the state. Please report back to Hilda. (Ongoing)

 

Site coordinators are to start planning for Legislative days. Contact your committee members via email.

 

CARDIAC - concerns were voiced on the difficulties some coordinators are having with CARDIAC i.e. lack of student help, availability of machines, time out of office, scheduling conflicts, intervention. Hilda suggested a joint meeting with coordinators and the CARDIAC staff. Kim will set this up. Tentative date is January 17 in the evening. Those volunteering to attend were: Shannon, Amber, Lora, Donna, Par and Dalena. Georgiana will also be asked to attend.  Meeting will be in Morgantown.

 

Update from ORH

 

 Hilda reported the WVU Fair is Tuesday, January 18.  The Site Coordinator meeting will be from 10-noon, IDS presentation will be 12-1, fair will be in the Pylons Lobby from 2pm-5pm.

 

February 21 is Legislative Day/Awards Banquet at the Embassy Suites, in Charleston.  Bring students for the student meeting!

 

There will be service learning training on February 22. This will be a "Hands on training" to include the development of learning objectives. 

 

Tentative plans are being made for a student advisory committee meeting to be held during Legislative Days. April will send email discussing agenda items for this meeting.

 

Hilda requested all board meeting dates for upcoming year to be sent to Kim.  She would like to start scheduling site visits.

 

Plans are being made to combine "Annual Seminar" (SC Retreat) with AHEC retreat.
