Interdisciplinary Experience (IDE) Information
An Interdisciplinary Experience contains opportunities to work with different health care disciplines to achieve a specific learning objective in the context of a rural community. The IDE is generally developed by the WVRHEP coordinator or AHEC staff in collaboration with the field faculty or preceptor who is responsible for directing and evaluating the student experience.
The IDE can take various forms such as observing a health professional in a different discipline for an afternoon or another off-site activity where disciplines observe each other in solving/treating a specific [imaginary] case, health fairs, blood pressure screenings, educating staff at a long-term care facility, a home visit, or other off-site interdisciplinary activity.
